Welcome to Gridiron Notes

Throughout the season, we will publish a series of Gridiron Notes articles to keep you up-to-date with the latest Madden NFL 20 news. Our goal with this series is to provide you with deeper insight into our game. That means more information from our development team and more communication around title updates, patches, and Ultimate Team.

Our goal is to publish an article anytime we have new and relevant information to share. We want these articles to provide you with context as to what's happening within the game. We will let you know when each article one is published via alerts on our social channels like Twitter, and our forums/website.

Not only will we let you know about exclusive information, but we also want Gridiron Notes to be a place where we celebrate the community. That is why we’ll be highlighting content made by community members in each article as well. So, be on the lookout towards the end of each article for some of the best content created by players each week.

With that said, today we will focus on the announcement of Madden NFL 20 (and additional details on features), the cover athlete Patrick Mahomes, and a roadmap of when you’ll learn more information about all key areas of the game.

We hope you enjoy the first Gridiron Notes of the season and find it to be a helpful place to learn about exciting news and information. Now, let's get started!

And, what a day to get started, as there's nothing like hearing information about a brand-new Madden game! First off, congrats to our latest cover athlete Patrick Mahomes! He had an amazing MVP season last year and is the definition of a superstar. We sat down with Mahomes during the cover shoot a few months back and got a sneak peek into what it feels like to play for the Chiefs on Sundays.

“The first time I ever ran out the tunnel in front of that crowd, to hear the eruption of that crowd that first time, it was almost like it was quiet because it was so loud if that makes any sense.”

Don’t miss our full Mahomes interview. Now, let's discuss two innovations coming to Madden NFL 20: Face of the Franchise: QB1 and Superstar X-Factors.

Face of the Franchise: QB1

Face of the Franchise: QB1 is our new Career Campaign that kickstarts your franchise this year. We made two graphics that quickly explain some important details of what Face of the Franchise: QB1 is all about. The first image is what you do in the new experience.

The second is a list of the ten schools available to select in the College Football Playoff part of the Campaign.

First, you choose between ten Division 1 schools. From there you will fill in details about your quarterback and make decisions about what type of quarterback you will be. Up next, you will be competing in the College Football Playoff. You will play up to two full games and your performance will impact your draft stock. Once you play through the College Football Playoff, you will then start the process of the NFL Combine.

As a quarterback prospect, you'll be asked a couple of questions by NFL coaches and then throw passes to receivers at the combine. After you finish this process, you'll then wait to find out where you will be drafted in the league.

All the decisions you made, and your on-field performance will dictate where you will land on draft day. Once drafted you'll start your NFL career. At this point, you will start your typical Franchise experience, but your quarterback will be unique to the Face of the Franchise: QB1 experience.

We will be diving into more Face of the Franchise: QB1 details on Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m. EST on twitch.tv/madden, where you will hear straight from the developers on Madden's latest Career Campaign and new details coming to Franchise mode itself, including the Scenario Engine! For those that would rather read, we will be publishing an article at the same time right here on Gridiron Notes.

Superstar X-Factors

Next up, let's go over a few details about Superstar X-Factors. In total there will be around 50 Superstar X-Factor players and over 30 additional Superstar players. The difference between the two are the Zone abilities and Superstar abilities. Zone abilities are best described as once-a-season moments that only the league's best can pull off, while Superstar abilities are traits that are unique to some of the most talented players that you see each and every game.

In total there are over 20 Zone abilities for the 50 Superstar X-Factor players and over 140 Superstar abilities. Each game you will see and feel the difference because of these special traits.

We're excited to provide even more detail about Superstar X-Factors on Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m. EST on twitch.tv/madden, where we will sit down with the development team to provide further insight into how Superstar X-Factors is being tuned so that it will make stars feel like stars, the game more fun, and balance competitive play. We will also have a blog that will detail this out for those that miss the livestream.

In total, we will be doing five livestreams to explain the finer details of Madden NFL 20, straight from the development team. Below you will find all the key dates and features we will be discussing during May.

Each show will go live 15 minutes before the times above so you can get your virtual seat early and hang out with the rest of the community before the show starts. Additionally, we will be running community surveys where we want to hear from you about how we're doing as a community team when it comes to communication about our game. Stand by for more details on this as we will discuss at the end of each show what the surveys will be.

Re: Madden NFL 20 First Details

★★★★ Novice

I agree. Why Fifa ( which is also EA)  is supporting so  many languages, so that kids in many countries can easily play that game and Madden support only English. It's almost like discrimination cuz people outside  the United States are also paying full price of this  game and are treated like someone worse.  You should know that time when american football was popular only in USA, is over, it's a past.  Nowadays people around the world are interested in american football and many would play madden but they cannot cuz EA has no will to support other languages and without  this support  game is incredible difficult for casual users.

I think your sales would go up and you would find many new players if you choose to support Chinese, Russian, Polish, Dutch etc.

Just think about it. Need help - I can help you translate it to polish cuz actually  I am writing to you from Poland Standard smile

Thank you.
