Class Tips
Assault:
Left ability: Improved Thermal Detonator
Using the Improved Thermal Detonator will give you an increased blast radius when the grenade explodes. This is very useful for clearing out a group of enemies or uncovering someone from behind a corner.
Right ability: Toughen Up: This ability gives you regenerating health constantly. I think this is a valuable ability to have. Being able to heal yourself after a firefight greatly decreases your risk of dying quickly.
Left ability: Recharge Vanguard: This version of vanguard resets your abilities cooldown. This, I personally think, is the best version of vanguard. After getting a kill with RV, you'll replenish your grenade and reset your Toughen Up ability which is a very good thing especially if you are injured.
The best weapon for this class in my opinion would be the A280. The A280 is a 3-Round burst blaster rifle and is capable of absolute domination of the enemy team when used right. I chose the Improved Cooling and Improved Range attachments for my A280. Improved Cooling will increase the amount of burst you can fire from 8 to 10 which is useful in a variety of different situations and it helps to ensure a kill. Improved Range eliminates the damage drop-off of longer ranges which very helpful. Being able to keep the damage at longer distances is a key ability when eliminating the opposition from longer distances. You may be out matched by the rate of fire from the CR-2, but trying aiming for the head as most gun fights are usually swung in your favor if you aim for the head. (Not to mention that the A280 has a very tight spread.)
Heavy: [I use this class a little differently…]
Right ability: Detonite Charge: I view the heavy as a defender type of class and I use it as such. The Detonite Charge is useful for blocking out entry points and to eliminate and pursuing enemies. It's also good for trapping sniper spots as your entire team can be dominated by one sniper. (I know this from personal experience as a sniper.)
Left ability: Improved Combat Shield: This improves the health of the shield and decreases the recharge time. If your defending an objective, rushing in as the bullet sponge, or just trying to stay alive in a fight, the Improve Combat Shield will ensure all of this.
Middle ability: Supercharged Sentry: Even though the recent patch has reduced the amount of time you can use this ability, still choose it. The explosive output will still severely injure, if not completely eliminate the enemy.
My favorite weapon is the DC-15LE. A fast firing heavy blaster and customizable variant of the DC-15. I put the Reduced Recoil and Explosive Shot attachments on my DC-15LE. Reduced recoil is an excellent attachment to have and it's almost necessary as the recoil without this attachment is quite bad. The Explosive Shot will also prove useful. Not only do your shots become high damaging explosive rounds, but the rate of fire is also decreased. This tightens the spread of the weapon and increases the accuracy by a lot even under sustained fire.
Officer class: [I rarely use this class as Officer is not for me. It does not fit my playstyle. I'm not saying the class is bad, I'm just saying why I don't use it as much.]
I can't give any Star Card tips, but I can say this. Whatever you do, AVOID the S-5. This weapon is terrible and will almost always get you killed. It is outmatched by every other weapon you can think of. The default pistols are better than the S-5 and the Blurrg even more so. Use the weapon to complete all of the achievements if you wish, but don't use this weapon when playing online. It is beyond terrible. [Using it in a TDM one time got me one kill…and 21 deaths.]
Specialist: [This is my favorite class.]
1st Boost Card: Stealth: I use the specialist as a stealth class and maybe it's intended to be like that anyway. Stealth keeps you hidden from the radar when you shoot and it increases your melee damage. Not only is the stealth perk a useful asset, but the melee boost is also quite useful. Being able to deal increased melee damage as a Specialist can help ensure that you can survive close range engagements when Infiltration is recharging.
2nd Boost Card: Marksman: If you get headshot, your sniper rifle's heat is improved until you overheat the next time. For weapons like the IQA-11 which I'll go over in a minute, this is extremely useful for weapons with bad or even poor heat stats. The extra shots that you can fire will prove valuable in a number of situations.
Middle ability: Scramble Infiltration: This ability jams enemy radars and marks all enemies near you for your allies and yourself. I find this to be the most useful Infiltration ability and it fits perfectly with the stealth loadout.
As for weapons, I truly think the IQA-11 is best suited for this role. Having a high damage multiplier for headshots is a useful little thing that will quickly dispatch the opposition. Dual Zoom and Improved Range were my attachment options. Dual Zoom gives you two magnifications and the ability to switch between the two is very helpful. The Improved Range eliminates any damage drop off this weapon has, making it extremely powerful even at the longest of distances. A close ranged option would be the A280-CFE. While you lose the incredible damage of the IQA-11, you'll at least have better time dealing with close ranged enemies. The Dual Zoom for varying distances and the 3-round burst to quickly dispatch anyone in your sights.

Thanks for the tips.
After a lot of practice I sometimes have good games now - I'm not reliably on the top 5 but I get there now and again.
In getting gooder - check your leaderboard (select) it pops up fast. Play as the Assult trooper, stick with your Squad Mates or higher ranking players and follow them about. Cover them, kill 'share' (you'll get assist more then likely) , watch how they handle the various situations of defending, attacking, where to go for objectives.
- this is just an 'at first' suggestion of course. Don't annoy people once you get your footting. then it's better to work as a team, but with some distance so you can flank in open area and cover two directions at doors and choke points.
Bounty Hunter Card will net you more points on everything you do, along with the other suggestions of chasing the objective this can open up the enforcer, ships, whatever A LOT faster. I personally find it very useful to getting ahead and adding some power to your game.
For the heavy the key to my improvement was learning to rapidly drop the shield and sentry to regain my speed and mobility. They're both useful for pretty specific situations and need to be dropped the moment that situation ends.
Officer - Well - about getting gooder... I take the officer and follow a heavy - I'll drop the turret at any important point and then I back up and I'll shoot over and around them with the officer. You can keep your meat shield healed and rank kills or objective points while getting some strong cover.
- Officer - as above - I pulled a blue recharge command from a crate and use it to keep allied Heavy's shield and sentinel abilities fresh. I tend to favor the officer and running teamwork this way - whether the other guys know it or not.

Here are some handy tips for new players:
1. If you are being targeted at a long distance by a sniper, DO NOT try to melee attack them, you will just end up dead.
2. If a Wookie warrior throws a Thermal Imploder at you, DO NOT try to jump on it to shield your team-mates with your body, you will just end up dead, along with your team-mates.
3. If you are playing a Rebel and you're standing near The Emperor, DO NOT try to pick him up and throw him over the edge of a cliff, you will just end up dead.
4. If you are playing Heroes and Villains and you're standing near the edge of long vertical drop DO NOT try to be like Obi Wan vs Darth Maul and fall off the edge and catch onto something convenient with your fingertips them leap up over them and kill them, you will just end up dead.
5. If you are playing Darth Vader and you see Luke Skywalker, DO NOT try to engage him in a friendly chat about your parental relationship, you will just end up dead.
6. If you are playing a Rebel on Endor and you're surrounded by Storm Troopers, DO NOT wait for the Ewoks to save you, you will just end up dead.
