Is there a way to reset your progress in an event?

Hey guys! I'm pretty new to this game so this question may be a no-brainer for some.
I started an event in the game a while ago and I had to stop as I didn't have enough characters to play the next tier. Then the event ended so I thought that when it comes back around I could just start back from the beginning, but no. The event picked up where I last left off and I still can't proceed forward. Is there any way to reset the progress of an event or am I just going to have to wait until I have all the required characters?

What event? If it is for Palpatine, Yoda, Thrawn, Commander Luke, Jedi Training Rey, BB8, ect you have to meet the requirements for characters. You can't beat tier 1 so many times and unlock 7* character.
