I keep getting friend events or quests or something.. do these lead up to something?

You have found the new quests. If you complete them, you will get the promised rewards, and your Sim will also have a new friend!

They are optional, of course. So don't worry if you don't feel like getting a new friend for your Sim, feel free to ignore them!
