Fighting higher level enemies

Guys are there any bonuses or penalties when fighting higher level enemies besides the small stat increases every level?

For example, if you have a level 70 team fighting a level 85 team in PVE, are you less likely to crit and more likely to be crit by them? Less likely to apply debuffs to them etc? Like other games for example WoW etc

If I just level the team up without adding gear or abilities, will those penalties and bonuses disappear?

As far as anyone knows, yes, there is a "level delta" which factors into the equations for the probability of debuffs landing, etc. 

When you are the same level, it should be 0.
