A way out with a friend

I dont have ps plus, if I buy the game and I host the game can I than play together with my friend who has ps plus? I read it is necessary to have ps plus to download the play with a friend game but I couldn't find anywhere if the host (me) also needed ps plus.

Yes, PS Plus subscription is required if you want to play in online co-op mode with your friend - especially if you want to be the host
