If I decide to become a subscriber for SWTOR, is there a trial period or you pay immediately and you become a subscriber?

You can play the initial 8 class stories to level 50 as a free player 

Subscribing will allow you to level to 70 and grant access to all the expansions, which you keep access too if you drop the sub
