Since I am running out of things to do in Anthem, I was thinking about what they could possibly do, and quickly, to create content with some replayability.
The Cataclysm is fine, but it's always the same. And as much as I like the secrets and puzzles and the overall location, sometimes something shorter and more combat focused (i.e. without flying around and secrets) might be more appealing.
So I've been thinking, and this is what I came up with:
Variant 1 :I call it the Freelancer Combat Program, the MCP. No, wait. FCP. Aka the Mini Cataclysm
How it makes sense: A combat simulation that uses gathered experiences to test freelancer skills. Anthem VR Missions (no, not actual VR, that's a Metal Gear Solid Reference, yes, I'm old).
The location: three arenas/areas of the Cataclysm and the Freeplay Dungeons, plus one Boss arena from the anomaly boss fights (Season of Skulls) OR one Stronghold Boss Arena.
The setup: Squad of four doing randomly selected things with randomly selected enemies in an enclosed area from the Cataclysm or the Freeplay Dungeons. Each arena is enclosed and connected by a teleporting pad unlocked when the event is done. Two random Modifiers for each completed run.
The things to do: using either Freeplay Event Mechanics or Cataclysm mechanics/tasks, the squad needs to perform things in a certain amount of time. The quicker they are, the more points they get.
After each completed event, a teleporter gets you to the next arena/area and next challenge. You cannot survive outside the combat area. Each area has a boss (Titan, Elder, Furies etc), with optional, secret mini-bosses when fulfilling certain conditions. Each challenge rewards loot. Each consecutive challenge gets a little harder. After the third challenge, you get a final boss fight, either an anomaly boss (including mechanics) or a Stronghold Boss. The overall points determine bonus loot
Modifiers: you do and take increased elemental damage; Your thrusters take longer to overheat, overheat status remains for longer
Cataclysm, Trial of Might.
Boss: Ascari Elder plus Legendary Bodyguards.
Second challenge: one area of the Necropolis Dungeon. Kill enemies and deliver echoes. Three waves.
Boss: Two Furies and Legendary Bodyguards
Third Challenge: Sentinel Bonfire on a Beach in the Cataclysm.
Boss: Two Ursix
Final Boss: Ascari Elder Anomaly Level, get the tanks, kill the boss.
diverse and "random" content with focus on quick action and combat
Increasing challenge and time based points for leaderboard action (not for the whole thing, but for each "challenge")
Might make Freeplay "useless"
I have a few more ideas, but this already took too long to write, so I will add those when I get the time.
Lmk what you all think...
