I know there are far more important things to fix and rework but as this should be an easy fix I'll go with it first: Can you please make it possible to set strongholds (and also legendary missions) to be private expeditions?
For quite some time I've been trying to do solo runs in all the strongholds but it's very hard to do without someone joining in at some point because I can't set them to private. I've had my fair share of games that I could solo up until shortly before the boss area but usually the game then puts some people into my session - even if it has been going on for 20 or more minutes. I guess it's via quickplay and it's very annoying. Chances have been a bit lower on GM3 in the past before the 1.3.0 patch but usually someone is put into my game at some point on GM3 as well. Edit: now that more players are back from the PTS and changes have been made it's almost impossible to do it (I manage to get 1 full solo run in GM2 though because everybody was most likely busy checking out the cataclysm).
How you didn't think about this to begin with is beyond me, seeing that there's a whole community of Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer solo players and speedrunners and some people always want some more challenges which often means playing content that is intended for several people solo. I really shouldn't be hoping for the playerbase to further decline just to be able to play strongholds or story missions solo. And while we are on the subject of story missions: why not have all of them available at all times?
- no rebalancing or scaling to the amount of players in the party isneeded, just allow us to start private games for ALL modes
- include the other game modes like legendary missions as well please. They are a lot of fun to play solo or with just a friend
- the mechanics to set matches to private is already in the game; it just needs to be unlocked for ALL the game modes
- it's helpful if you can keep a match for "friends only" sometimes (so others can join in later for example)
- it's helpful to be solo in any mission/stronghold to test stuff without other players helping/interfering

I agree that there are more pressing issues, but I also fully agree that this option would be nice to have. I really don't see a reason why this could be difficult or problematic to implement, so you have my vote here.
I'm surely no expert but to me it seems like this "problem" could be solved with a "flip of the switch" - figuratively speaking. The mechanics to set games into private mode are already in the game and you can actually choose to do so for strongholds as well - it just won't let you start then and tells you that strongholds can't be set to private (even though you quite literally have just done that). So I figure they just have to get rid of these stupid limitations.
Just yesterday I had another GM2 Heart of Range run with my second Javelin and was solo until shortly before the furies spawn when two more players were put into my game. I would have loved to continue solo at that point. Right now we've got the worst of both worlds: if you want to actually play in a squad you can hardly find players on GM3 and if I then want to solo GM2 I can't play privately because I can't set strongholds to private and the game almost always places some other players in my match at some point.
Is there even a community manager or someone who reads this stuff? Today I tried 5 times to get a GM3 Temple Of Scar Solo done but everytime someone was put into my game at some point. So annoying. I wonder if it helps that I'm basically "ignoring" everyone who enters now so that they maybe don't end up in my game? Seriously though... blacklisting the players just so I can play solo doesn't strike me as a good solution? Please change something Bioware. Just let us play everything in private mode if we like to. The game is much better that way often times actually than it is when you just plough through everything without much resistance as a team.
Just now I had another nice solo run ruined by some people being put into my game right before the boss fight. This is so ridiculous. Two nights ago the same thing... got to Scelos (who is a pain in the * solo as Interceptor on GM3) and took him halfway down when some people joined. I have now blacklisted almost everybody I came in contact with, still the game finds ways to * up my solos. At this point I guess I quit as well... it's just no fun to play without having to think because the team is totally overpowered and it feels like cheating. Playing solo is really fun and I wish I could play the whole story solo on GM3 (not just 1 legendary mission each day - what's up with that crap...?) and solo through all the strongholds but apparently nobody at Bioware even reads this stuff.
Well, that sucks. But it does not really surprise me. When I want to test something on a stronghold, I pick a difficulty below GM1. But of course, you will want a challenge with your high end gear, so that does not help.
Maybe you can get 3 friends as passive spectators to block the player slots during your run. I'd be willing to jump in for that.
bioware/ea mess with stuff they should not even mess with and actually never bother about stuff which are critical to the game
just let people have private games in all modes goddamn it! useless restrictions...

Had a nice GM2 solo going with my secondary Javelin (Ranger) until Scelos and would have loved to do the fight solo but then the game threw 3 players in Legendary Missions can't be set to private either. I don't get it anyways: why limit the little content there is with unnecessary restrictions? Let us decide if we want to play private solos, duos, trios or go public. Give us ALL the story mission available at all times and let us play them privately so we can play the story again solo without people rushing ahead and do it on GM1-3 now. It's such a simple move to make the best out of what content is available already and it shouldn't be much work to realize this. At least we can set (legendary) contracts to private and they can be fun and I do them with my Interceptor solo on GM3 and the difficulty is just right alas challenging depending on the setup and mission type. BUT: we only get 3 of those contracts each day. Just let them be repeatable all the time and create more of them (as far as "story"/mission quest and locations are concerned).

By now I have probably blacklisted half of the active playerbase. Still I can't get another full solo done - somebody is always thrown into my game. Especially annoying if the are people who are not even properly geared and just leech off others carrying them through the Stronghold. But here we are... hoping for features that should be implemented in the first place and no community manager around to even talk to us. And some devs who work on new content nobody needs until all the old * is fixed.

You really think that the ability to queue solo in a stronghold is more important than working on new content that is close to release?
