No subs left, how do i sub off my injured player?

I have made my 3 subs and it'll telling me to sub off my injured player but i cannot since i already made 3 subs.

What do i do?

Just had this problem and a way to fix it. 

Turn off your controller then back on. It'll ask you to select controlled sides then you can exit the pause menu and get back to game. 

Unfortunately you can't change your formation to, for instance, cover up the injured player being off the pitch. 

Hope this works for the rest of you.

This just happened recently playing with a friend. He had just scored a goal when the njury occured,  and as a result was not able to resume the match. This surely needs to be patched up asap.
