I found a solution that worked for me. It was MalwareBytes' Anti Malware that was interfering with the install. I closed Malwarebytes from the task tray in the lower right corner and then Origin installer ran fine.

I've been having the same issues as others on this thread for over a week now and have trawled this and other sites searching for a solution and have tried nearly all of them. As I'm running Malwarebytes, I read about the success of CIA-Blowback and thought that might be my problem. Alas – nothing so simple.
I’m feeling very angry that I have paid good money over many years for many EA Games, including expansion packs etc., and suddenly you can hijack my property because of a technical issue which I don’t believe is my fault.
I am running Windows 10. Does the community have any other clues apart from those already suggested.
(Disclaimer: While I'm not a complete newbie, I am not as technically literate as many others on here so any instructions will need to be explicit. I tried to post a screen shot of my error message but couldn't do that - enough said!!)
