Witcher 3 "has stopped working"

★ Novice

Was playing game consistently for a week, then one W3 update later I am unable to get it to work.

Have tried:

Repair

Reinstall

Run admin

Reboots

Renaming files

Check for update

Forum questions

Loading through Steam

NOTHING IS WORKING.  My other Origin games start up and I've passed the refund window. I am really disappointed in spending $70 for 11 hours of playtime.  Someone in EA please help me play my game!

@bwolfmoss Hi,

From the DxDiag included in your Origin Error Report, I can see that you have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M in your PC. However, your DxDiag does show your Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 as being the currently active one in your system.

Consequently, I would suggest that you go through system graphic settings and ensure that your GeForce card will be utilized by the Witcher 3. You might have to change it from "power saving / economy" to "performance".

Let me know how you get on afterwards.

Cheers,

Nils

@bwolfmoss Hi,

Please post the following information:

1. Press Win+R to open the run box

2. Type perfmon /rel to open the reliability monitor.

This opens a window where you can click on the error's visually shown (white X in red circle) to find the latest one related to Origin. Click show details and then paste the info that is listed in there in here.

Next, create an Origin Error Report and post its ID in here as highlighted in red below.

  1. Open Origin.
  2. From the menu on the top choose "Help"
  3. Select "Origin Error Reporter" (You can read more about it here: http://download.dm.origin.com/oer/en_GB.html )

You will see three screens as shown below.

  1. For type of error select "Downloading Games"
  2. For the description of the problem, please include a brief description (copy/paste of your first post should do) and include a link to your forum post.
  3. Check the box to share diagnostic information and click on "Send Report"
  4. The error reporter will show the second screenshot from below and will then show the third screenshot when finished. On the third one mark and choose to copy (or write down) the Error Report ID text string (bolded) and post it here.

With this ID we will be able to take a closer look at what exactly has been going on. Thank you very much for taking a look in advance.
