I have strong suspicion that the latest version of Origin is faulty. Please update the software!
Yesterday I logged in to Sims 4 and was prompted to update Origin. Then I got stuck with Origin trying to install the Helper tool and then ask for permissions in an infinite loop (have tried up to 20 times before giving up) as I understand very many others have been experiencing before. I have spent hours looking through the suggestions on the web and it surprise me that with such a frequent issue that this is not fundamentally fixed, an issue not found in any other application and actually quite unprofessional by Orgin /EA. In my research I found that most answers relate to old macOS incompatability but I am on macOS sierra (with MBP13 2016) and have not made any new updates since last time I ran Sims and had a functioning Orgin. What has happened since last time I ran Origin is that there is a new version of Origin so this is the main suspect.
I have tried reset, remove and reinstall, I have tried adding a .ini file on the desktop as once suggested, I have been removing every single Internet plugin restart and reinstall again but nothing helps. I have tried a fresh install as an admin user with the exact same result so nothing on user permissions. I have also tried a complete reinstallation on a completely different macbook pro (with Origin never installed before) with the exact same result. The only reasonable conclusion from this after having tried every suggestion applicable is that the latest version of Origin actually is faulty. I now have an expensive app I have paid for that is not working and I have a crying daughter from having to deinstall Origin and Sims... PLEASE get a new FUNCTIONING version of Origin fixed ASAP! This is terrible...
