Origin has encountered a serious problem and must close.

I have been having a serious issue with Origin for the last year or so. Whilst attempting to get the program running, after a undisclosed amount of time, it decides to crash to desktop, leaving the error message 'Origin has encountered a serious problem and must close.'

I believe that the issue is network related because I operate on a closed network with a Sophos Security Firewall.

I have opened all the necessary ports related to Origin and am still receiving this error; a look at the logs seems to confirm my suspicions but I am unsure exactly what to do at this point in time. My log is as follows:

I think you can try a Clean Boot  http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

-you need to press the key combination: “Windows Key + R”;
In the “Run” window, type the message “msconfig” without quotes;
-you need to left click on the “OK” button;
Select “General” tab, from the toolbar and chose the feature called “ Selective startup”;
-uncheck the box found in the left of the message: “ Load startup items”;
Select “Service” tab, from the toolbar;
-check the box in the left of message: “Hide all Microsoft services”;
Left click on the “Disable all” button, found on the lower-right side of the window;
Left click on the “OK” button;
-a new message box will prompt on your display. Left click on the “Restart” button in order to restart your operating system.

NOTE save any open files and close all programs before restarting your computer.

And now run the setup file Origin with Admin rights  http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-do-i-run-a-program-or-a-game-as-an-administrator/#2

Like you, everytime I tried to download a certain game, Origin's crash followed by this message: Origin has encountered a serious problem and must close. Luckily, for me, a friend of mine was there to help me: 

1. Try downloading the game by logging in your Origin account on another computer.
2. Download the game to this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games, and wait till it installs.
3. Copy the files, downloaded in the folder above: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games, to a usb flash. 
4. Now, on your computer download and install Origin. 
5. Find on your computer this folder, mentioned again above, C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games, and paste to it the files you copied before from the other computer via usb flash drive. 
6. Open Origin on your computer.
7. Go to your Game library, find the game you want to download and press Download.

This should work, considering that the Game Library Location on your computer is the same as is on Origin, meaning C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games. After, you press Download, Origin will try do download it but when it does find out that you already have your game files downloaded on your computer, it will finally install the game for you. In this occasion, the installing won't take as much time as it did the first time. So, there you go! I hope if it doesn't help you anymore, it helps someone else with the same problem.
