First, disable your antivirus and firewall temporarily and then perform a clean boot before starting Origin:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
If the issue continues at that point then manually uninstall Origin using the specific steps here: https://help.ea.com/en/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/
Reboot and then download the most recent installer from here: https://www.origin.com/irl/en-us/store/download
Run the Origin installer and then retest again. Do let us know how you get on, thanks.

I'm still testing this fix, but I was having issues with Origin never opening after I clicked on it, and discovering it was using 95%+ of my CPU resources as well. I run Windows10 on my PC, so I was thinking this might be a compatibility issue so I right clicked on Origin in the Task Manager window, clicked Properties, clicked the Compatibility tab and ran a diagnostic for compatibility with Windows 8, since 10 wasn't selectable. After running the diagnostic, I was asked to test the new settings generated by the program. I did, Origin opened flawlessly with little hesitation. I'll see if the fix works over the next week and report back.
