Linking Accounts

[ Edited ]
★★★ Newbie

I have two EA accounts associated with different e-mail addresses, both of which have games on the account. I created a different EA account for Origin, since this one is an EA classic account, and it has been my main. The other one (which I am on right now) was my first account. I was wondering if there was a way to link accounts. Please help!

Linking two origin accounts

★★★★ Novice

I started playing the FIFA 13 demo and at the start it said something like this, "You can visit profile.ea.com and login with your existing Origin Account (EA) to link your multiple Origin Accounts (EA) together". I do have two origin accounts and would like them linked, but I saw no option at the above website to do so, and I tried chatting with a support person, but they say apparently they can't link two accounts together. So, how do I do this then?

Why is it so hard to merge two accounts? And why does it apparently depend on which specific support member you speak to wether it is "possible" or not? I have just opened a ticket to get two accounts merged. I'll post back here to report my result.

I want to merge two Origin account

Who do I have to speak to. I've read around these forums that it's possible. Spoke over chat with a representative, was not able to help me.

just adding important information to the thread

You are now ready to chat with Alan.
Alan:Hi, thanks for contacting EA Support. My name is Alan R, how may I assist you today?
you:hello
you:i've been reading the origin FAQ
you:and i found something interesting
you:i saw that there's a way to MERGE two origin accounts
you:i would like to do that with the ones i have
Alan:Yes there is. We record some information after verifying the accounts.
Alan:Then we turn it over to our Security team to merge the account. This takes 12-14 days.
you: please be more specific, what information do you record?
Alan:There is also a risk that some of the game save and progress may be broken in the process.
Alan:The account information, email, ect. It all has to be verified as well.
you:i see
you:well i would like to merge mine then
Alan: One moment please.
you:actually im bit worried with my online characters, like my soldier on Battlefield 3, and my teams on Fifa12, will those be erased?
you:i mean you said there's a chance
Alan:That is a possibility.
Alan:Would you like to proceed?
you:but you see only one of the accounts have battlelfield 3, so it wouldn't be necessary to erase the soldier.. that's my perspective of the thing
you:i do, but im very worried
Alan:Well, there are no guarantees that the game progress will stay intact.
you:**bleep** that's a pretty high risk, would you please hold a second while i decide
Alan: Ok, no problem
you:thank you
Alan:You are welcome.
Alan:Are there any other issues I can assist you with?
you: i have one more question
Alan: Sure.
you:does the risk of losing the savedata includes the specific game IDs or those will remain intact
Alan:I do not know specifically. I was told by a member of the Security Team that various forms of game save data could be lost or broken.
Alan:Game will still be accessable but the game save data might not.
You:i see
you:that's enough for me
you:i'd rather have my data in separated accounts than lost it all
you:thank you very much for your answers tho, they were very clarified
Alan:Thank you for choosing EA games and have a great day.

I just wanted to mention that I too have this issue and contacted support. I was given the "that's impossible" line. After some fussing they escalated my case to the "specialist group" who is supposed to contact me via email in the next day or two. It's frustrating to say the least and my experience with Origin support hasn't been pleasant. With that being said, I think I understand why we get mixed results. It's your typical customer service, operation human shield, setup. We often get the first level, limited knowledge reps who try to handle with they can and dissuade users in those difficult or "non-critical" requests. I think it's bunk that they do that given the number of us on the forums having this same issue. We should have had the option to migrate our games to a central account with the introduction of Origin. It is what it is I guess, but hopefully I can get rid if my secondary account. It's only a single game, but it's enough to be irritating at the very least.

I actually had to select the game title I wanted moved in order for live chat to be an option. It was all BS though, no one has contacted me, I wasn't given a case#, nothing. I can say that each encounter I've had with Origin/EA support has been like this. Either you get someone who isn't helpful and is rather rude, someone who tells you one thing and does another or it's incorrect, or they just don't bother contacting you at all. In all the years I've been buying/playing games with Steam I've never had any issues whatsoever. Maybe I've been lucky with Steam, but I don't like my experience with Origin at all. Especially when I'm being forced into it with certain game titles. It's almost enough to make me avoid EA games all together.
