Hi @globalwarfareuk

How to run a DxDiag- report on your computer to help diagnose problems,( when your PC is not working as it should) https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

After you show DXDiag here on forum, we'll see what to do.Wondering

Ok @globalwarfareuk

Your windows have some problems installing updates via Windows Update and because of this your operating system don't work properly.

The Windows Update Troubleshooter fixes some problems with Windows Update, and it might resolve this issue for you.

Just follow these steps:

1. on the Start search, type 'find and fix problems' and choose 'Find and Fix problems'.

2. click on 'System and Security' and click 'Windows update'.

3. follow the onscreen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

NOTE If your issue persist you need to, disable third party antivirus on your computer.

I wait your feedback.Angel

I found this steps on internet :

How to manually reset the Windows Updates Components.

1. Press Windows Key + X on the keyboard and then select “Command Prompt (Admin)” from the menu.

2. Stop the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and the Windows Update Services. To do this, type the following commands at a command prompt. Press the “ENTER” key after you type each command.

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc

net stop bits

net stop msiserver

3. Now rename the SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folder. You can do this by typing the following commands in the Command Prompt. Press the “ENTER” key after you type each command.

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

4. Now, let’s restart the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and the Windows Update Services. Type the following commands in the Command Prompt for this. Press the ENTER key after you type each command.

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver

5.Type Exit in the Command Prompt to close it.

NOTE If you want to try,i wait your feedback.Raised eyebrow

Thanks...easy I guess if you know where o look....

so did the repair you suggested, it made 5-6 repairs, disabled 3 red party (superantispyware) AV....still in clean boot, bit not resolved.

wish I knew why it's working on my sons pc, which is identical to.mine.

wish I could run debug on origin to see where it is stuck, or if there was an error report I could generate

thanks for all your help so far
