sims 3 supernatural

I was wondering if I am doing something wrong or something, because I bought Sims 3 supernatural online off origin and I downloaded it and everything but now it just wont install first it is saying Please use The Sims 3 Launcher and update your version of the Sims 3 before installing this product.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues @salt-James.

Can you try launching the game by bypassing the Sims launcher:

• Navigate to you install folder, default is programs(x86)\electronicarts\thesims2\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe. but can differ based on set up
• Double click on TS3W.exe to see if game launches
• If it does right click on the launcher file TS3W.exe and create a desktop shortcut from which you can launch the game.

@salt-James  How did you originally install the base game?  (disc, Origin; hopefully not Steam)  If this is a disc install, did you ever patch it?  An Origin install would come fully patched, unless it's more than five years old.  (Also, please don't try to patch an Origin install; you might break it.)  And are you running Windows or macOS?
