I can not log into my origin account on simcity.com to register for the beta. I was wondering if I was the only one having the problem or is the server down?

This generally happens due to a corrupted tracking cookie for Origin. If you can either clear your browser's cache (or browser's history files), you should be able to then restart your browser and login. Alternatively, you can try a different browser which you haven't had an Origin login before, and that should work as well.
