"Macros" in profile settings

Greetings, 

This is my very first question here on EA Answer HQ. It is a very simple and silly question to many of you I bet but it is not clear to me that much. What does macros do in the profile settings? There are multiple fields that can be filled and saved. Thanks for the answer in advance!

Ever answered the same question from different posters over and over and over again? What macros let you do is save a number of set answers to your profile so that rather than constantly writing out the same answer every time, you can just choose the macro that corresponds to the problem and click on it and this will copy the entire text in to your reply for you.

Thanks for your quick reply. I actually had a little thought that macros were used for that purpose but never really tried. Thanks for the help!
