mac origin white screen

★★ Novice

im using a 2017 macbook air that is fully up to date. just 3 days ago i got a sims 4 pack at around 5 pm, played for maybe a total of 5 hours, and 24 hours later, origin wouldn't show my games. whenever i open the client, it either opens as a white screen and i can't log in, or it lets me log in and crashes, telling me that i can't log in at this time. my internet is good, so that is not the problem. i have searched up many solutions and tried to get in contact with EAHelp, but it says no channels are available.

@allisonsalofsky  Due to the current situation, EA help is only open from 9 am to midnight GMT, Monday through Saturday.  In the interim, you can try running the Origin reset tool for macOS:

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/

And make sure you don't have a proxy enabled.  Here's how to check:

Re: mac origin white screen

@allisonsalofsky  Try using your phone as a mobile hotspot, at least long enough to see whether Origin loads fully.  (Make sure the phone is using data and not your home wifi.)  If it does load, the problem is likely either your router or your ISP.  You can try powercycling your router, but ISP issues have to be addressed by the company.

If that's not hte problem, please use this guide to doing a clean uninstall of Origin to remove all related files from your Mac.

https://bluebellflora.com/how-to-uninstall-origin-on-a-mac/

Before installing, please disable any antivirus/firewall you have, whether third-party or Apple's built-in version.  For Apple's firewall, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of yoru screen, select System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall.  Under the General tab, please also make sure to allow apps from both the App store and identified developers.

If you have any cleaner apps, please uninstall them.  They often delete essential system files, and they may be deleting something Origin needs to run.

Please also make sure Safari's cookies and and website data is set to either "always allow" or "allow from websites I visit."  The setting is under Safari > Preferences > Privacy.

When you do reinstall Origin, be sure to grant it all the permissions it requests.

If this doesn't help either, try doing another clean uninstall and then installing Origin into a new user account on your Mac.  Make sure it's an admin account, and that the username contains only letters and numbers, no special characters.

Finally, if nothing else works, you can try the remaining steps in this Origin troubleshooting post:

Re: mac origin white screen

Aside from the many potential fixes already mentioned, the only other thing I can think of is reinstalling your operating system.  If you do it correctly, your files and user settings will remain intact, although it's always a good idea to back up all essential data before trying something like this.
