Why can't I run a previously downloaded game?

I downloaded the Apex Legends on my computer. Due to some issues I had in my computer I backed up the game onto a portable hard disk and I formatted my computer. After the formatting, I moved the game from the hard disk to my computer and when I press "r5apex.exe", Origin opens up and displays the following message:

"ERROR LAUNCHING GAME
The game Apex Legends™ does not appear to be installed.
Please install it or try relaunching the game."

How to run the previously downloaded game without downloading the entire game again?

When you right click Apex in Origin, do you see a 'locate game' option? If so, use that to point Origin to the game. It may check some files, but then you should be good.
