@AbigailULater Go into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, right-click on the Saves folder, and select Copy. Then right-click on your desktop (or wherever you want the backup to go) and select Paste. You can test your cc the way you would normally, sorting through it to see what's broken and needs to be removed. Then when you're satisfied, you can delete the Saves folder that remained in the Sims 4 folder and move the copy to that folder in its place.
By the way, it's a good idea to back up your Saves folder regularly anyway, so you have extra copies of your saves in case anything happens.
