Hi @pepper9365
Clear Origin cache and for this you get a perfectly detailed post from @EA_Nils >> http://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin/my-origin-will-not
Restart your machine.
Run the setup file Origin with Admin rights http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-do-i-run-a-progr
NOTE if your issue persist you to perform a Clean Boot http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-clean-boot-yo

Hi @ReiKishi
Ensure that your Firewall and/or Antivirus are not blocking the connection. The easiest way would be adding an exception for the Origin Client. You need to do this add firewall/antivirus exceptions for Origin and open the needed ports http://help.ea.com/en/article/connection-issues-with-origin/#1
Add Origin into your antivirus software and windows firewall's whitelist, if you had already added it, delete it and re-add. Or you could try disable your antivirus software and windows firewall.
And start game from Origin / My Games tab and not on Desktop.
NOTE excuse me for asking, but after you uninstalled Origin have restarted your PC? And then reinstall Origin?
If you have not done so,you must redo.
And now if your issue persist Clear Origin Cache, restart your machine and run the setup file Origin with Admin rights

I didn't have an antivirus when I first posted but now I have installed Norton... I'll add it but its not the problem since I didn't have it untill now... but now that I have Norton I get the old message and I get a different message sometimes saying "There was an error during startup. Please see the log for more details."

You need to try this solution.

This is a frustrating issue, but I suggest that before you spend hours un-installing re-installing and messing around with your registry and such try clearing the game cache files first.
1) Go into your main boot drive and go into the Users folder - find the folder matching your account name and go in.
2) Once inside go into: Electronic Arts / The Sims 3 / DDCache
3) Delete missingdeps.idx
Then finally, cross your fingers, and try running the launcher after this. Good luck!
