Thanks for having this answer - worked for me and back in to play
I dug through the Sims 4 section of Answers HQ and found a huge thread about this issue. After reading through pages of nothing that helped I found one step that surprisingly seems to work for me.
- Close origin completely.
- Go here: https://www.origin.com/en-us/download
- Download Origin (again).
- Install it right on top of your existing install (you do not need to unistall first unless you have an issue...that way you don't lose your game downloads).
- Now try running the game!
I hope this helps you guys, too.
Hi @lisa_bowser ,
what's your operating system ?
I don't work or have any association with EA. I give advice to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your computer/game.
Please only contact me via PM when asked to do so.
I'm running a Mac. I made the mistake of thinking I could install an expansion on Sims 3. That's giving me a different error. Then I deleted everything and tried everything and thought to try Sims 4. Tried downloading that. Now it's giving me the "Origin needs to be running" error. I tried downloading Origin on top of Origin. Nothing in this thread worked. I've deleted everything and then re installed everything. Nothing is working. Pretty ticked about Origin and probably won't buy anything else from them. I'm tired of spending my money and then spending my day off not playing the game, but screwing around trying to get it to work.
