Re-using a code

I had to set up a new account for my son who forgot his password/username, etc.  The system will not let us use the same code for his sims game.  Is there a way we can by-pass this?  The re-set information did not come to my nor my husband's email, the only ones we would have used to set this account up.  Please let me know how we can rectify this.
