Origin Says I "must be online to log in for the first time"

Just bought the new simcity, downloaded origin, origin will not let me sign in because it says i must be online, which i am. please someone help me, this is getting extremely frustrating, i have already tried reinstalling and rebooting a bunch

Try rebooting  into safe mode then when Windows has finished booting then reboot to normal and try the game again.  Windows may have gotten messed up and this will hopefully fix it.

i tried this, still didnt work. whenever i open origin it says an update needs to be installed, i click install now, and it just brings me back to the login screen that doesnt work. every time i load origin it does this, so maybe its a problem with updating? please help me!
