Origin In-Game Overlay Not Working At All (Titanfall 2)

★★★ Novice

Hi everyone, I've been struggling with this problem trying to get Titanfall 2 parties going. Despite every possible Origin In-Game Overlay setting being ON, the game complains that "Origin Overlay [is] Disabled" and I am unable to get into a game with my friend. This lead me to discover that Origin In-Game Overlay wasn't working at all on any other titles in my Origin library.

I had a couple short chats with two representatives and while one of these reps was helpful, unfortunately nothing came of it.

I am currently on Windows 10 Pro, and I am not running any of the programs currently known to interfere with the overlay such as Steam, MSI Afterburner, OBS, etc.

Here's a quick list of everything I've tried (some at the request of said reps) that hasn't worked for me:

  • Creating a new Administrator account on my PC and running Titanfall 2
  • Disabling my antivirus (Avast & Malwarebytes Anti-Malware)
  • Disabling my firewall (COMODO Firewall)
  • Manually uninstalling and reinstalling Origin
  • Clearing the Origin Cache in AppData Roaming and Local as well as ProgramData
  • Uninstalling AverMedia Stream Engine

If anyone from EA or anywhere else has anything else to suggest, please let me know!

Sorry to be a bit snide but I would like to point out that I have no issues with Steam or uPlay's in-game overlays, just Origin's.

Hi everyone!

After months and months of leaving this problem to rest I finally tried to play Titanfall 2 again on a very fresh installation of Windows today and I found Avast Antivirus' Behaviour Shield was the problem for me. No idea why that fix has worked when I swear disabling Avast altogether didn't on my previous install of Windows, but I'll take my victories where I can get them.

As suggested here, creating an exception in the behaviour shield for both your Origin Games folder and Origin's folder fixed the problem for me. I also added "<Setting key="EnableIgo" type="1" value="true"/>" to my AppData/Roaming/Origin/local_(xxx).xml file just to be safe.

Thank you all so much for your assistance, and I'm sorry to those who've tried this before and had no luck that I can't provide any new insight.

So, this wasn't EA's fault in the end BUT c'mon EA, if other Overlays can pierce through the Behaviour Shield (even uPlay's!) why can't Origin's!? d:

Hi @UltraSultra

Turn on Origin Beta Updates https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/how-do-i-opt-in-to-origin-beta-updates/

Clear Origin cache https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/origin-my-games-list-is-blank/

Delete temp files: open the Start Menu and type %temp%  in the Search field  or click in the Run option in the Start Menu and type %temp% in the Run field.Press Enter and a Temp folder should open. You can delete all files found in this folder, and if any files are in use, they can be skipped.

Restart your machine.

Run the setup file Origin with Admin rights  http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-do-i-run-a-program-or-a-game-as-an-administrator/#2

Go in Origin / My Game Library ,right click on game icon select Repair.

NOTE if your issue persists perform a Clean Boot https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/FAQ/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

Thank you so much for your responses Yahel, but I'm afraid to say even reinstalling Origin via an installer run as an administrator from a clean boot didn't work.

Funnily enough I was already on the Beta branch trying to fix this issue!

At this point I'm wondering if there's some arcane part of my Windows 10 installation that Origin's having an issue with, but I find it so strange that even with no services running outside of the Windows ones on a genuine Windows 10 Origin In-Game (and only Origin In-Game) still finds a way to dislike my system!

If anyone has any further suggestions or anyone from EA can tell me any method of getting some debug information that might help sort this out please let me know!

Ok @UltraSultra I hope you did so with Origin :

Make sure you have removed all files and folders related to the installation Origin.

-manually uninstall Origin http://help.ea.com/en/article/manually-uninstalling-origin/

-run CCleaner http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-use-ccleaner-to-fix-pc-issues/

-then go in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin -delete this Origin folder

-clear Origin cache https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/origin-my-games-list-is-blank

-delete temp files: open the Start Menu and type %temp%  in the Search field  or click in the Run option in the Start Menu and type %temp% in the Run field.Press Enter and a Temp folder should open. You can delete all files found in this folder, and if any files are in use, they can be skipped.

-now you have to go to your recycle bin and clean so there will no longer Origin exist as a file.

-restart your machine.

-install Origin as administrator (very important to do)  https://www.origin.com/en-ie/download

EDIT : Alternatively, make sure no other programs that inject an overlay into your games are running, or try to turn their overlays off in settings (e.g. FRAPS, Asus Sonic Radar, MSI Afterburner, NVIDIA Shadowplay, etc.)

I wait your feedback.

Hi Yahel,

I'm sorry to say that even after following those steps multiple times it still isn't working - I don't think the problem lies with Titanfall 2, as Origin has validated all its files successfully. If it's any help, here are the logs from IGO_Log.Titanfall2_11216:

I also noted these lines from Origin's main log, do these mean anything?

**2691   [2018-04-18 17:50:23.954]     Warning   Origin::Engine::Content::ContentConfiguration::isIGOAPIEnabled              7096      IGO API usage (manifest) [Origin.OFR.50.0001452] false

In all of these I'm assuming "IGO" means "In Game Overlay". I definitely have every possible Origin In-Game setting enabled for all my games, so it seems weird it seems to be reporting false when this check is made?

I'm not a big specialist for your logs, but i think your issue, don't know how to translate ,missing something something something ...  The intermediate directory contains files shared from another project/scrypt maybe...Wondering

I think you have to give a reset to the operating system.

Yeah, maybe so... It really sucks that might be the only solution to get this going again when everything else is working perfectly though - not that I'm bitter! :P

Thanks so much for your input Yahel, I'll investigate the DxDiag report soon.

It's NOT you.

IT IS ORIGIN.

I have the same problem with Titanfall 2 and my friends who I play with using the ORIGIN OVERLAY' also cannot use it. This problem started about 3 days ago.

At first I also reinstalled/repaired/went to the moon and back to NO AVAIL.

Go to my clansite the BN-Nitwitts on Enjin. I have done a post there on this.

I believe ORIGIN has turned off the server for this service. It could be maintenance or a security update reason. I just don't know yet.

However IT IS NOT YOU.

I wish ORIGIN would do us the kind service of informing it's paying clients what is going on.

Hi @BN-Necessiter@UltraSultra

I have come up with a positive update of this issue Angel

For anyone, it does not work-> the Shift key and press F1-> to access Origin In-Game in Titanfall 2,you can launch Origin in Game from the Titanfall 2 game settings Fingers crossed

Just follow these steps :

Start Titanfall 2,

-click Multiplayer

-now press Invite Friends, and now you have Origin In Game enabled and ready to use WinkFingers crossed
