I have a lot of games on Origin, but mainly The Sims 3 products, and I can not download anything at all. I figured this out when i wanted to do a clean reinstall of my games which include every expansion and stuff pack, and I own almost every single item in the Sims 3 store, so I have spent thousands of dollars on this and I can't even play it.
Even with the firewall completely disabled it will not download, tells me to check my internet connection (58 Mbps!!!!!) or try again later. I've been trying again later for about a week and a half.
I've done the live chat twice, and people try to blame me or my computer, as if I am stupid and then only when I tell them I have done A-Z do they admit that there is a known issue with origin. I have been programming HTML and fixing other people's computers since I was 11. I don't like questions aimed at people who do really dumb stuff to their computer if they know there is an issue.
I just want to download my games. Why is that so freaking difficult? There are other people on the sims 3 forums who say they have the same problem and we just keep waiting. The Sims 3 has problems all the time so reinstalling the game is something we have to do that you don't have to do with any other game.
Just to check, could you please try to download the games while your computer is in Safe mode with networking? You would not be able to play, but this would rule out any issues with any conflicting software drivers included.
I just tried, a number of times. It did not do anything differently, the "download error" was the same.
rows and rows of games I can't play.....
I'm having the same issue. I bought Spore last night and everytime I try to install it it give me the same error message. I tried downloading another of my games that I don't have installed and it's giving me the same error message.
yeah that's exactly what I'm talking about. I dont understand why they arent working on this 24/7- it makes me apprehensive about ever buying from origin again.
Do you see any weird issues in Origin on either the store or the my games page with missing images? What kind of external firewall are you behind? Have you tried downloading the games on a different network?

I've been having the same issues as well. I have tried various methods to get this to work, including a full format of my PC and reinstallation.
All of the above suggestions I have tried. I am a network engineer and it's not just restricted to Sims games but all EA games an account has downloaded.
I emphasize account because my sister's account is fine. She can download all the games just fine. Not a problem. Log in as me however (on the same computer) and it comes up with an error. I've gotten my sister to download her games to my machine (thankfully she has most of the same games I do).
Different networks don't affect this. Based on my observations, this seems to be an error on EAs end, as it only seems to be affecting some accounts.

I am having this problem too, and so are a lot of other people that I know. Here are some threads from the Sim 3 store where it has been discussed or mentioned.
When this first started I tried contacting your Help Call Back line. I left a message, and nobody returned my call, I sent an additional request, got ignored again.
I tried the Origin Error Reporting tool, thinking that might help, and got an e-mail back from someone asking the nature of my problem. Explained the problem which is that when I try to download I get a pop up 'download failed message, telling me to check my internet connection or try again later'. Didn't hear back, so I sent an new reply asking what was going on. He finally e-mailed me back a long list of troubleshoting tips. This tips might be helpful if the issue was my computer, but it isn't my computer, this is happening to a number of people.
thanks LoreDarkclaw, when you suggested it was just your account and that your sister's worked etc, that gave me a new way to approach the tech guy on the phone about this issue. There is definitely something that is just wrong with my account, but after about an hour on the phone about it, the (actually very nice irish) guy helping me had to do further work and track down the tech specialists because he had changed everything in my account and changed it back, deactivated and reactivated it, did everything, and nothing worked. he tried to download ANY game from my account from the support center, and the same error happened, ruling out any chance that it was my computer or firewall or internet etc. there is a server-side problem that is not visible in my account, i didnt have any flags or anything else wrong with it. he said it was like the download server was just throwing it back when either of us tried to access any of my games. he even put in a game that wasn't there before and that wouldn't download either.
unfortunately, the only thing he could think of to fix it at the moment was me creating a new account and them adding my games back to it... unfortunately i own almost every single item in the sims 3 store, and i think he said i would lose everything from the sims 3 store if they couldn't fix THIS account...
so no answers right now.. he is taking what he saw etc to the tech team though so at least there's that.... but he didn't really seem hopeful about this being fixed today.
Same issue here too. Its very frustrating. I can understand having some technical errors every now and again but sounds like this has been going on for far too long. Get your team on this or your going to start loosing customers. I want the games I paid for! Heck, I want my games with interest when this is all resolved!
