I have internet connection but Origin won't connect

Yesterday I attempted to open Origin but it said it needed to update. It then came up with the message I have attached below. Despite the fact I am definitely connected to the internet.

I tried this a few times, then when it didn't work I followed the suggestion on the pop up - reinstall Origin.

This made things worse. 

Now it won't even install it and I am still getting the same message every time I click on it.

I have McAfee Firewall installed but I have checked and it allows connection to Origin- any suggestions for what to try next???

@PersimmonBadger  Can you please try the following steps and let me know how you get on. 

• Close Origin completely by right clicking the Origin system tray icon and selecting Exit.
• Make sure Time/Date is correctly set on the PC
• Make sure Origin is authorized by your anti-virus and firewall
• Reset Internet Explorer Settings
• Untick the options in LAN Settings ( make sure nothing is checked under Proxy Server )
• Clear Origin Cache Data
• Reset the Windows Host File
• Reboot your computer. Now right-click Origin and select Run as administrator
• If still unresolved, please do a clean boot

had the same issue just uninstall origin and download new one problem solved

Tried a few of these and I’m not sure which one worked but origin is now working for me again! Thank you

@PersimmonBadger I had this same issue... after many types of suggested things to do... one of the things fixed it so i gave it no mind. Now its happening again and nothing seems to help... No other programs have issues... WHY ORIGIN...WHY

Having the same issue, uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work, now it won't install. Same error message. Also tried turning off Antivirus which has been happy with Origin for over a year, that did nothing either,
