How to connect account with xbox

I cannot find the button to link accounts. My xbox account has the same email and I have played ea games online with it before and it isnt linked. I can no longer play online with my xbox so thats out of the question but i want to link my accounts to transfer characters from PvZ GW1 to 2 and when i click the add friends button there is no button to link accounts with origins new layout please help as i am very aggrivated
