Just  flush DNS > "ipconfig /flushdns". Didn't even need to reboot or rerun it in safe mode.

hey guess if it still isn't working just FULLY delete origin w/ EA's delete tool and then redownload the new version and it'll install like its the first time

Huh...for me just waiting a while seemed to do the trick. It just updated but it asked me to log back in. No biggie. Seems annoying though that whenever you want to play a game, Origin HAS to be updated. Oh well, it is what it is.
