EA account privacy settings

★★ Novice

Hello guys,

I have a question about EA account settings.

Under My Account->Privacy Settings->Preferred Data Usage, the first two options are EA In-Game Targeted Marketing Messaging and Third-Party Targeted Advertising. I don't understand, what do I do to opt-out, have boxes checked or leave unchecked?

Appreciate any help,

thank you

Edit/Update: Apologies for earlier mixup, leave both boxes checked to opt out.

★★★ Newbie

This is some really stupid and ambiguous phrasing, and it definitely needs to be changed. I can't believe I actually had to look this up. Any chance that message can get relayed?

According to this EA support page, that information is incorrect.

Link: https://tos.ea.com/legalapp/WEBPRIVACYCA/US/en/PC/

Quote: "For PC and Console games, you can adjust your preference at any time by logging in to your EA customer account portal. Click this link to be redirected to your Privacy Settings page, then click the box labeled "Targeted Advertising Provided by Third Parties." If this box is checked, EA will no longer share your account information with third-party partners to customize your advertising experience."

Given that you are an EA Community Manager, representing EA, this incorrect advice could have legal consequesnces, especially in the EU - I suggest you follow up.
