Do I need Origin running to play sims3? Can I stop it loading automatically?

My computer is a bit old and slow, so I try to run as few unnecessary apps as possible.  Origin loads every time I play Sims 3 but seems to be doing nothing for me, so it would be cool to stop it loading every time I load sims 3.

@Seangoc1 If you have download Sims 3 from Origin, then you need to run Origin client to play the game
