Connection issue

So why is it that I am now required to get into my sims games FROM origin. I used to get the cds which would allow me to play it without needing to be connected to internet. So you're telling me that since I have gotten them from origin, I need it? Well if that's the case remind me to never buy from here again. I got the sims for the love of it and also because it is an internet free game - at least when you buy the actual cd anyways.
