Can't edit email

I am trying to change my email address but it still wants to authorise my account using an old email i have no access to anymore.

Update your email address:

1) To change your email address, go to the Help Center at https://help.ea.com and log in with your Origin account.
2) Click on "Manage your Account" in the sidebar, this will open the account management section
3) Now select "Change Email Address"
4) in your My Account: About Me settings, select Edit next to Basic Information, enter your Security Answer, and update your email address. If you do not remember the answer to your security question you will have to contact a Game Advisor at https://help.ea.com/contact-us for further assistance.
If all worked well you'll be sent an email to verify the change. Once confirmed, you'll be set, just remember to login with your new account details next time!

Thanks, i was hoping to avoid having to speak to help by phone but i guess thats the only way its going to get solved. (using the phone sets off my agoraphobia so i avoid it at all costs)
