Is it possible to buy a game for a friend on origin???

You may not be able to buy for a friend though Origin, but you can purchase codes for downloads on most web sites that sell the titles.

For example I purchased SWBattlefront from Best Buy. This only gave me a download code to enter into my Origin account.

It is not, and we've had no word that it ever may be possible.

@oG-kuSh-winDEX Another option would be to purchase a physical copy, they also contain the codes that can be consumed on your friend's account. 

I can confirm that there is no gifting system on Origin at this time, as Gorath mentions.
