Bulletstorm Zero Day Piracy Protection tool won't connect to the network. Never.

★★ Novice

Hey. So I wanted to play Bulletstorm for a long time now but it seems that this game will never work for me.

When I press play Bulletstorm it says that "Games for Windows - Live must verify the release date of your game. Please make sure that your computer is connected to the internet."

When I press continue it says that "Games for Windows - Live cannot connect to the LIVE Service. Please make sure your computer is connected to the internet."

I googled for this problem and tried to 1. Flush dns 2. Create another windows account with administrator rights and tried to launch Zero Day Piracy protection tool with no luck. 3. Of course I reinstalled the game. 4. Added inbound and outbound exceptions for zdp.exe in windows firewall.

Then I contacted Xbox live support. They told me they don't support GFWL and gave me microsoft's local phone number. I called them and they told me the same thing. Standard smile

SO... Anyway to play this game, except for downloading crack?

I figured out how to get it to work.

Download title update 1 http://download.xbox.com/content/45410935/tu10000082_10000182.cab then extract the files inside of it.

Extract Fid_22CA8734_1218_6514_118F_62CCE39077B2 out of the Media1.cab file.

Rename that file to ShippingPC-StormGame.exe and copy it into the Bulletstorm\Binaries\Win32 folder, overwriting the exe that's in there.

While you're in that folder, delete the Zdp folder, and all of the other files named ShippingPC-StormGame (except for the exe you copied in earlier)

Then run the setup.exe for title update 1, it should complete successfully and launch the game.

Close the game (alt+tab out and right click the game in the taskbar and click close)  and install title update 2 http://download.xbox.com/content/45410935/tu10000082_10000282.cab

Do the same for title update 3 http://download.xbox.com/content/45410935/tu10000082_10000382.cab

Then when the game launches again, try signing into live and enter your CD key, allow it to download an update.

Now the game won't actually close when it's supposed to, you have to manually close it again. The update should launch itself automatically and you just need to hit next or whatever. Took us a few tries before it worked properly so be patient.

Once that last update is installed you should be able to log into live and play the game.

Unbelievably enough, I'm in the same boat. Exact same issue. It seems Bulletstorm doesn't want to use the latest version of GFWMarketplace and instead insists on using the version it came with. That old version is probably knocking on the servers that have been shutdown for years. I tried xlive.dll remover and that didn't help. I would be ok with a crack, if I could find a working one Frown

Ok I have a success with an Xbox live department. I contacted 4 guys today. It is extremely hard to contact them at first place since there are bugs (intentional?) which prevent people from contacting them. Anyway. First guy was on his first day I believe. He didn't know what to do or how to talk at all. :D But anyway then I contacted xbox live support about an GFWL problem once again and this other guy took some notes, made actual case and stuff like that. He checked my license status, my account status. Everything was fine. Then he didn't know what to do and sent me to microsoft windows pc support web page. I followed his advice but the guy on the other end told me they don't know anything about GFWL and sent me back to Xbox live support. Then this last guy checked with me the steps I made to resolve this issue and told me to send him screenshots. He said that he will actually send those screenshots to engineers team and now we have a little chance that they will actually look into this problem. SO! That is something. At least it doesn't happen to often when help desk takes your issue seriously.

For PC on EA Origin, this worked for me:

"When the Zero Day protection window comes up asking to check, DO NOT CLICK CONTINUE. Just press enter."
