Character deleted?

I just opened the game through Steam as usual and was only given the option to start a new game, instead of loading the game I've been working on. I checked my character's save files in my Dragon Age folder and they were all present and accounted for. Has anyone else encountered this? Is it possible to fix since the character's saves are still in my Dragon Age folder?
