@should this game run on an intel quad Q6700 @2,6ghz, 4gigs ram and a nvidia gtx460 on low settings?
it seems that a lot of people using a Q6700 have issues (but so do others...). Its a Quad core, but is the Q6700 a too old one in general?
Freezes in the main menu at startup are something else entirely than blackscreen.
Disabling one of 4 cores stops freezes, in game you can turn it back on.
At least it works for me.
Origin overlay + all cores = 100% freeze
origin overlay off + all cores = high chance at freeze
no origin (3rd party) + all cores = low chance of freeze (but offline) [edit: the longer I stay in options, the higher the chance. It will happen EVENTUALLY]
Whatever of the above + 3/4 cores = no freezes.
To me it looks like, when CPU load reaches near 90 - 100 %, it results in a freeze.
Disabling one core allows it to go up to 75% obviously (no impact on performance, believe it or not)
In game I enable all cores, the game never reaches 100% load anyways.
I remember Thief stayed almost all the time at 100% but never crashed...

And still not a single official info about patch... not a single official Bioware info about "problem".
I start to think the only solution they will give it's "get refund"... you can't? "sucks to be you".

Ok after reading this past few days, specially on launch day, i must say, this problem is not with this poeple´s pc, why i said this. the first day or say my game was crashing and geting the black screen, i messed with admin permitions and compability settings. Well I am on win7 ultimate, i7 with 8gb ram and 1tb hd then thing is the that i have the intel graphic chip.
well the next day the game ran, though the freaking loading screen takes about 5-10 min to load mileytongue: in game i have some low fps yet and certain areas it goes smooth, at any case i have 57 hours of game play. playing on low setings with some twicks.
here comes the issue, freaking origin says that there was an issue with cloud sink today, and i oppted to use my local data, when i started thet black window came up and crashed right off the bat, some times giving the" an error as occured and DA I has stopped working" but eventually i got to play again, was doing cassandra and black wall´s side quest and i was about to make some potions and it crashed, i tried again and so far i am back to day one problem.
Yes i get the minimum requirements things, however this is not an issue to be blamed on it, if there are all these problems on different ports including the next gen **bleep**, you dont need to be a rocked scientist to figured the equazion of where the problems is, which is EA who once again screwed things up. I dont say the dev because the game content is awsome and havent encountered many bugs just the npc MIA bug. So dont fall on "you need quad core" or "it doesnt run on dual" when in fact there are reports of ppl playing on it. I know that i am pushing my laptop and plan o geting a better pc in the future, also i bought the 360 version "cross fingers" for no issues on it.
Honestly ppl should just round up like the did with ME3 ending **bleep**, cause this is even worse.......

1) Sir, I'm doing a survey here, would you like to cooperate with your dxdiag? :robothappy: (Also, what have you already tried?)
2) The fact that EA or BioWare or anyone screwed up (unfortunately) doesn't change the fact that, as of the moment, you have around 99% chance of the "loading screen -> EA/BW logo -> auto-save warning -> black screen with no freeze" issue be caused by your dual core. Currently we've seen the exact number of 1 person on a dual core without hyperthreading (which most i3s/i5/i7 have) running the game, agaisn't around 153 who can't.

wow finally got past this by getting a new Graphic Card. Played for couple of hrs last night no issue; just a bit slow response at times but I am not going to get a whole new PC for this game.

I see there is still no info about a patch that might help?

While we continued yesterday experiment and accesed game on i5 2.7GHz , 512mb videocard and 512mb ram...Huge lags but you technically can play this game...
While 8gb ram , 1 gb Radeon and 2gb geforce(tested both) BUT with dual core cpu doesn`t even let into main menu. Funny thing is all procceses are the same as we tested on i5 and i7. Im not an expert so i can only speculate on this matter...but kinda....feels like artificial block.

Sure does, but that's exactly because we don't have the required knowledge to fully understand everything that's involved. Honestly, the whole "conspiracy theory" of "they're doing it on purpose so we'll buy new processors/pcs/whatever" is pretty silly and has nothing to stand on. The game has a lot of issues and is definitely not how a game should ideally be released, but that doesn't imply there's some evil corporate plot behind each and everything that doesn't work. (this isn't directed at your post of course)
Let's just hope they can fix the OTHER things that have nothing to do with our pcs being inadequate, which are already in great number.
