Reinstall on PS3

Since patch 5 I can't play single player it freezes every time I try to load it and at the same place. I'm about 110 hours into my first game. Some suggested I reinstall the game but if I do will I lose my game?

You shouldn't have any issues, but if you have a USB flash drive you can back up your save files before you try anything. It should be in the same section as checking your trophies, it is called something like manage my files. Sorry, I haven't backed up ps3 files for quite a while.
