Dragon age inquisition update your amd radeon driver

★ Novice

I was trying to launch this game and it told me that i need to update from my driver 13.1 to 13.9 the problem is my card does not even have a 13.9 driver when I checked the AMD site. I have 2 ATI radeon HD 4800 serires instaled. is there any fix for this issue other than going out and buying a new grahpics card.

I've found a workaround. It's as simple as editing the Catalyst version number in the registry editor.

Search for and launch "regedit" (minus the quotes). navigate through this: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class

In here you'll need left click on each entry and click on the folder 0000 and look for where your amd driver info is. The actual folder designations are different for different people but this screen cap will show you want it will look like when you find the right one.

Once you've found it look for the key titled Catalyst_Version. Double click on it and change the number to whatever number the prompt had been saying you need. Save the changes and then load up the game. The game fully loaded up for me, so hopefully it'll all work for the rest of you.

As far as I can tell there was NO communication between EA and AMD on driver info. Running the AMD 4870x2

So do you think that they will fix this soon or that people with this card are hosed.

I am not sure, I really want to play but I feel like were going to get hosed.

I have a 5770 and mine says update to 13.12 and I have 13.4

I've tried installing the 13.12 package, but it doesn't update to it. I even went as far to uninstall all of my AMD drivers and install fresh, same thing happened.

This is ridiculous, I should not be screwed out of playing a game I spent money on for **bleep** like this. Especially when I can play games that have even more intense system requirements than this.

It seems that both AMD and EA slipped the ball on this one

Yes indeed.  AMD stopped supporting new drivers for 4xxx cards and below over a year ago and I bought the damn game based on saying it supported the 4800 as minimum.  EA hosed me till I can save up enough money over a few month to buy a new computer.

Sadly that doesn't help as it just won't update from 13.4 to 13.12

It will install everything just fine, but it still won't elevate the Catalyst verison to 13.12 even on a fresh install.

Could be that since I have Vista 64bit it doesn't support 13.12 even though on the website it shows the 13.12 package for Vista 64bit? I have no idea.

Ultimately there shouldn't be something that says "You can't play unless you have this version xx.xx" I mean hell, I can play Assassin's Creed Unity and Shadows of Mordor on my current setup. Pretty sure I can play DA:I.

Sorry that didn't help.  As far as I can see also I am double boned as AMD has apprently dropped all vista support along with the 4xxxx series of cards.  Whoever made up the minimum requirements needs to be sacked.
