Dragon age Inquisition - CPU overheating

★★★ Novice

I can barely play a minute without my cpu temperatures reaching 95 and having to close the game for fear of my computer auto shutting down. I reach minimum specifications (albiet barely.) I put everything on low or off, dropped the resolution to 1280x720 and there was no change. I have an Acer Aspire V3, with a Geforce 750M, 8gb of ram and an Intel i7 quad core at 2.2ghz.

What cooler do you have on your CPU?

And the graphics settings won't make much of a difference; the game hogs the CPU somethin fierce.

Recommend checking for a bios update,

Yikes! Sounds like an isolated issue. Your rig is much better than mine but mine never gets too high even after playing all day.

Unfortunatly it's a laptop, so I have no idea, the exact model is an Acer Aspire V3-772G-9829. I've heard from hearsay that there could be a problem with the heat sinks for V3s? But I havn't had any problems up until now

Thanks, I've done that, I don't have time to try the game now but I'll let you know if that helped later

This must be one of the very few games that I've seen push my CPU usage on task manager to 100% (core i5 750 @3.4GHz, 2 cores with HT). Most games only manage to use 2 threads which doesn't really tax the CPU to maximum. Check and clean possible dust clogging the heat sinks. If it's a new laptop then it's cooling isn't up to spec.

Is there any tutorials for that? I would have no idea of where to start. Oh, and I've only had the laptop for about 4 months.

Shouldn't really have problem with dust yet since you've had it only for 4 months. But when you do need to clean it a can of pressurised air is propably the easiest solution, just remembet to shutdown and remove powercord and battery first. Check these youtube videos for general idea of what to do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0BQ6YUFaoY, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJOX3lC83Bg.

it seems it isnt a CPU problem, but a game problem.

See the following thread for other people with the same/similar problem.
