the game will not start

My game starts but after meeting with Varric, it freezes. That's it. This is the farthest I've got since I had the game day 1. I waited for this latest patch in particular since I couldn't read it, and they updated the text size options, however, I see no difference. At this point, I don't even want to play the game any more.
