I'm getting this error every time I play now. Using a 760 with win 7 64. It's incredibly tedious and happens on virtually every cutscene.
The frostbite engine seems more trouble than it's worth. I am certainly not going to muck about with my voltage or clock settings just because the developers used a buggy and substandard graphics engine.
I might try borderless windowed but failing that and after all the other problems with freezing and so forth I might just sell the stupid thing and go back to some games that do actually work.

I am REALLY frustrated with this issue, I played 12 hours of multi player no issue, then started playing single & get a crash at least every hour.

Its a new computer GeForce GTX 760 card.

- I have updated my graphics card

- Changed graphics settings to be lower

- turned off orgin in game

- tried repairing the game

- made my settings what is reccomened by Nivida, then by origin.

Each time I think it has worked only for it to fault again... and judging by this forum, its not my computer. They need to fix this, its a beautiful game but I can't play it.

I had a chat with an EA advisor he advised to try these. (yet to try)

http://help.ea.com/en/article/programs-that-may-cause-conflicts-with-origin/

But in all honesty, I think this is the generic speil they tell everyone with an issue.

Well granted I have a new driver for the gpu, but it does at the moment look like the borderless window solution has done the trick.
Game is currently stable and now I can actually play it I can see what everyone else is saying, it's Brilliant. I am glad I persevered...

I'm getting pissed off by this bug as well, Geforce GTX 560 Ti, 347.09 (Latest), and Windows 7 64 bit. I get it even while reading Codex entries. This is ridiculous.

And it's me or it gets worse as you advance in the game?

The game has now become almost unplayable. It got worse as I progressed.

This is so typical EA...

I'm also having this issue. I played the game for about 40 hours with no problem at all and only over the last 10 hours has it become an issue, and it seems to be getting worse the more I progress in the game. Was every few hours and it is more like once and hour. So frustrating! I have a brand-new Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 on Windows 7 64-bit.

I posted this on RPGwatch already.

If you get random Crash-to-the-Desktop errors with a DirectX messagebox, this helped me:

(I have a Win7 64 Bit-System with a ZOTAC GTX 660 TI NVIDIA gfx card)

Upgrade to Nvidia driver version NVIDIA 347.09

Choose (very important!)
Display Mode: Full-screen Window

Graphic Options:
Tessellation Quality: OFF
Post Processing Quality: LOW
Ambient Occlusion: OFF
Effects Quality: LOW
Post Process Anti-aliasing: OFF
Multi-Sample Anti-aliasing: OFF

everything else can be on HIGH:

Resolution Scale                  100
Graphics Quality                  Custom
Mesh Quality                         High
Resolution                             1920x1080
Shadow Quality                    High
Terrain Quality                      High
Texture Quality                     High
Vegetation Quality                High
Water Quality                        High

The setting file:
C:\Users\[yourUserName]\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save\ProfileOptions_profile
looks like this:

GstAudio.AudioCompressionMode 0
GstAudio.DialogueVolume 1.000000
GstAudio.EnableSubtitles 0
GstAudio.MasterVolume 1.000000
GstAudio.MusicVolume 1.000000

Also having this issue

Game unplayable, crashes about every other cutscene.

Running a AMD Radeon HD 6800 series, non-overclocked, GPU with the latest 14.11.2 beta driver that supposedly should fix DA:I DirectX issues.. Turns out it doesn't.
