can't talk to ANY character on dragon age 2 for mac

So I recently acquired dragon age 2 and started playing. Everything ran smoothly until i got to Kirkwall, where i had to talk to some npcs (Meeran or Athenril) to keep on going with the game. Turns out i though i hit R to talk to the characters, nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong, is it a bug...? I cannot keep advancing in the game without talking to those npcs...

Did you ever figure out the issue? I'm stuck on this now as well.

I figured it out.

On a Mac - if you don't have a mouse and are just using the track pad - you have to click Command Button + click (or whatever the action button is)  instead of just clicking. On a mouse, it's the right click.
