Dead space 3 origin in game bug

I recently got dead space 3 to play with my friend, and origin in game isnt working.

We've been playing a lot over the past few days and obtained a ton of Ration seals, he can spend his but im forced to sit on a stockpile because origin in game isnt initiated on booting up dead space 3.  I've tried changing resolution and enabling Vsync, but nothing appears to be working.  Any advice?
