Dead Space 3 Problem

I recently received this game and no matter at what level I play, easy, hard, etc. I never get by the train crash in the first act. I always jump up and grab the arm of the rescuer there, but no matter what I do I cannot get aboard the escape ship. What am I missing here? Thanks.

@DavidWest85 are you dying while performing a specific quick time event? Have you tried to hammer the key instead just pressing it or to re-bind the keys?
