Dead Space 2 not launching from Xbox Game Pass PC. [ Edited ]

Hi All,

I've installed all three versions of Dead Space e.g. 1, 2 & 3.

Dead Space 1 & 3 play fine, but Dead Space 2 launches into a blank screen and exits back into Windows 11. No error appears.

I have a high spec PC running Windows 11, with the latest updates, and I launch the games via the Xbox Game Pass app.

I contacted EA support and I've executed everything that they've asked me to, such as:

1) Clearing the cache of the EA Launcher App

2) Uninstall Origin 

3) Reinstall Origin

4) Flush DNS Caches

5) Clean boot

These steps did not work unfortunately.

They suggested that I log a bug, however, that doesn't seem to be an option, other than to ask you all here for assistance.

I've attached a DxDiag output file accordingly.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue and what other suggestions may you have?

The official compatible supported OS's/hardware are mentioned on the System Requirements page of the game.

Welcome.

It's unfortunate to read that you're having these issues.

Unfortunately none of the current available EA games or programs have official support for Windows 11, and therefore it's possible that you run into more issues than you would like.

Have you tried to run the game (DS2) with Administrator rights or in Compatibility mode?

Yes I tried running it in all the compatibility modes and also tried reducing my resolution to as low as 800 x 600 too. I have also tried running the game as Administrator.

No luck :-(

Do you perhaps have some other suggestions?

@Gobsmacker1, that's unfortunate. The game isn't really made to run on modern-day hardware or a modern-day OS, so that could be part of the issue as well. It's a surprise to me even that DS1 is running for you.

Maybe you can give these steps here a try from the Steam forum? Other than that, I'm afraid that there's not a whole lot we can try from here. Maybe another member of the community might know of a solution.

Wow I'm having the same exact issue. Deadspace 1 works perfectly but Deadspace 2 loads to a black screen then closes. I'm sure if I buy it from steam it would work perfectly but would defeat the purpose of gamepass ultimate 😤

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it to work and uninstalled the game. 

A pity it doesn’t work!
