My Partner bought Dead Space 2 on STEAM some time ago, but has never been able to play it.
When it's started up, it brings up the activation manager and will think for a few minutes before spitting up the error "Connection failed. Please check your internet connection."
We've tried a number of troubleshooting option we've found online, one of which was to take the product key and put it into Origin, but it does the exact same thing.
Have the activation servers been turned off or something?! At the moment, we have bought a game that cannot be played!!!
Is there an official workaround or general fix for this? Or have we been ripped off?

I also bought dead space 2 during the steam sales and have this exact problem. I contacted the EA support and have had over 20 messages with them back and forth. None of which helped, its all the same nonsense about turning off firewalls ect. After all that failed they told me they would send me to the "expert" tech support, which was just code for "ignore you from this moment forth" and havent gotten a responce from them in a month.
My friend got the game free over the weekend from the origin code coupon they did, and it activated just fine. so im completely stumped.

10 day later and no response? It'd be nice to be to actually play the game at some point.
Can someone from support at least acknowledge they've read this?!

I had the same problem, but by flushing my DNS the problem just went away.
If you have Win7 or Vista:

SInce EA seems to not give a *, let's try to solve this on our own!
Good luck!

This solution still works! Bought the game from the Steam summer sale and had trouble getting it working. Looks like someone cares for Visceral's games and it certainly isn't EA.
